Title: Cancer fatigue

“The side effects from chemotherapy, some did really surprise me. I knew to expect the hair loss and the digestive issues, but the fatigue was so unexpected and such a major hurdle for me during this treatment. It was a surprise. I had no idea. It was an indescribable fatigue that seemed the biggest battle through the treatment.

The fatigue that I experienced – I remember asking my oncologist the best ways to alleviate that, and they said exercise. And I thought, ‘I can’t even hold my head up and yet he wants me to go out and exercise.’ But I did find that if I got up every day and got dressed every day, and acted like I wasn’t sick, that it just helped. It made a difference to – I knew if I’d stayed in my pajamas that I would act sick and feel sick. But I had to make myself get up and do things and to continue to live.”
