Age, family history, presence of polyps, and diet are some of the factors that can
put you at higher risk for a colorectal cancer diagnosis.

You may be at higher risk for developing colorectal cancer if you:
- have intestinal polyps,
- are older than 50,
- have a relative who had colorectal cancer before age 60
- or have two or more relatives who had colorectal cancer at any age
Additionally you may be at higher risk if you:
- eat a high-fat diet
- don’t exercise regularly
- or are very overweight
Smoking and a history of alcoholism are also considered risk factors.
