Dr. Choti and Fred discuss how knowing what to expect during colorectal cancer treatment,
including chemotherapy and surgery, can have a very positive effect on your outlook
and health.
Title: Focus on hope
“I think it’s important that if patients understand what to expect — that it does
have an impact on their outlook of therapy. Whether it really has an impact on the
outcome and on the efficacy of therapy is less clear, but I think indeed in some
cases, when they can cope better with the therapy and understand what to expect,
the outcome is better.”
“You have to go from where you’re feeling sorry for yourself and sorry for your
family and not having any hope to deciding it’s time to fight. You wanna get back
in there and let you know that ok you’re going to have surgery, then you’re going
to have chemo, but it looks really good to us that you know there’s a chance at
survival of this thing. So you put that all together and pulls you out of the hole
and makes you want to live.”
