Vicki shares the importance of hope through all stages of the colorectal cancer
journey, from diagnosis to chemotherapy to survival. “It’s given me a different
outlook on life,” she says.
Title: The importance of hope
The thing that I really encourage those that are newly diagnosed is to always have
hope because this is definitely a treatable cancer, that there is life after chemo.
It’s important to keep that hope and know that you will be all right. Having cancer
wasn’t something that was on my to-do list. It’s not something that I think I would
have chosen. But if I had the opportunity, I don’t think I would go back and change
it. I think that it made me a different person. I’m stronger than I knew I was.
I think I’m more compassionate. It’s given me a different outlook on life.
